CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to all our members on the announcement of a third shift being added to the Cruze production build. This announcement is a testimony to the members of this complex to their abilities and dedication to producing the best product possible. We continue to be leaders in innovation and our team processes are an example throughout the Corporation.
INVERTED SIGN-UP
Due to many members having questions surrounding the inverted language during temporary layoffs, the following is the Local language:
"When layoffs of (5) or more working days duration resulting from change of model, plant rearrangement, or unforeseen part-time operations (up to 10 working days), employees with one or more years of seniority may make written application prior to the effective date of the layoff, during a period designated by management, stating their desire to work during the period of layoff when work in the respective non-interchangeable occupational seniority group decreases. After all employees with less than one (1) year’s seniority are laid off, the applicants with the longest seniority within their respective occupational seniority group will be retained. If there is not sufficient manpower to perform the anticipated work from those employees who have made application to work, the employees with the least seniority who have not made application will be retained. It is understood that employees not fully capable of doing the work will not be retained to replace employees who have not filed application to be retained. Furthermore, a current list of employees desiring to work under the inverted seniority provisions will be maintained by conducting a sign-up period every two (2) months: December, February, April, June, August and October. Manpower requirements during such periods will be staffed utilizing employees from these lists. An employee’s initial election will remain in effect unless changed in a subsequent sign-up period. Employees returning from an approved leave of absence, vacation, jury duty will have three (3) days to change their election if their absence was during a designated sign-up period."
The current sign-up was concluded on February 12, and will be used for the March down weeks.
