T.R.A. and T.A.A. CERTIFICATION
(Trade Readjustment Allowance) and (Trade Adjustment Assistance)
T.A.A. DECISION 70623
FROM THE BENEFITS OFFICE...
We are now T.R.A. and T.A.A. Certified. Please understand that T.R.A. (monetary payments) and T.A.A. (the training) are two separate programs. Below are some of the basics of what this means to our members.
Our Certification Period runs from 09-02-2008 through 09-02-2011. If you were laid-off from our facility at any time during this time period, your name will appear on the affected workers list which is being provided to the State by General Motors Human Resources Dept.
It is not necessary at this time for you to do anything. Should your status change to permanent layoff (that is, laid-off with no return to work date), you may be required to take action in order to take advantage of this certification for T.R.A. At the point in time you are permanently laid-off, you will be contacted by the State. They will set up a Benefits Rights Information (BRI) Session with you and explain the options and rules of T.R.A. and T.A.A.
T.A.A. provides certified workers to get retrained for specific occupations, based on the individual’s existing skills and labor market conditions. Only one training per individual, per certification is permitted. There are six (6) eligibility requirements which must be met in order for workers to receive the training.
T.R.A. There are as well, six (6) eligibility requirements for T.R.A. benefits. The monetary payments of T.R.A. would not begin in most cases until the worker has exhausted all rights to any State or Federal Unemployment Compensation Benefits.
You do not have to wait to be contacted by the State for your questions to be addressed. In fact, we encourage you to contact your local One Stop at any time in order to have your questions answered. Not knowing your rights and requirements under these programs could affect future benefits.
For your convenience, below are a few One Stop numbers in the area.
