WELCOME BACK
Welcome back to all of our Tier II members along with our newest members, the toolmakers from the assembly plant who transferred here under Para. 96, as Doc. 112 WEMR’s. The Shop Committee is being told by management that the transfer of production employees will be commencing on February 8, with twenty (20) members and continue in the coming months as Cruze production ramps up.
SUBCOUNCIL
BUYOUTS: According to the International, there are no plans for additional buyouts at this time.
DOC. 8: The International and the Corporation are in discussion on procedures related to Doc. 8. As information becomes available it will be communicated to the membership.
ATO (Additional Time Off): The use of ATO without prior approval will not be counted as compensated hours under Para. 84A of the National Agreement, which requires 40 compensated hours in the employee workweek before overtime hours are paid.
Vacation Restricted (VR) Pay: Any unused portion of VR up to 40 hours will continue to be paid the following year as outlined in the National Agreement.
Bereavement Pay on 4(10's) Workweek: Members who are on a 4(10) schedule and are eligible for 24 hours of bereavement , may take 2(10) hour days and 4 hours on the third day with the option of working the remaining 6 hours, taking vacation for 6 hours, or choosing to be excused. Members are reminded that if you choose to be excused that you continue to need 40 compensated hours before being eligible for O/T premium.
SUMMER VACATION SHUTDOWN
Management has informed the Shop Committee that the summer vacation shutdown will be the weeks of June 28 and July 5. Members not scheduled to work the week of June 28th, will have 40 hours vacation deducted and for the week of July 5, eight (8) hours of holiday pay will be received for the July 5 Holiday and 32 hours of vacation deducted. Members scheduled to work during this period will be notified by management and the sign-up to work for this period will be held in May. Any member wishing to make sure they have one or both of the designated weeks off, should apply during the vacation application period.
INVERTED & FULL UTILIZATION SIGN-UP
In accordance with Para.1, of the Local Agreement on Inverted Layoff and the Full Utilization Agreement, beginning February 1 through February 12, 2010, members may elect to sign-up or change their elective. Members who are absent during the entire sign-up period due to approved leave of absence, vacation, bereavement, jury duty or military leave, will have three (3) days from their return date to sign-up. Members are reminded that if they wish for their elective to remain the same, no action is required. All others may change their elective at the Hourly Employment Office.
W-2's
2009 W-2's were mailed out by the end of the week of January 25. Any member who does not receive their W-2 by February 15, 2010, should contact the Hourly Timekeeping Center at 1-866-245-5957.
2009 UNUSED VACATION PAY
Any member who had unused vacation for 2009, should have received that unused portion in their paycheck dated January 29, 2010. Members who believe that they were shorted vacation pay need to fill out a shortage form that is available in the Union Work Center.
TIER II PAY
Management has informed the Shop Committee that they are aware of incorrect pay that is affecting some of our Tier II members and are working to resolve the issue.
DOCUMENT 8 NOTIFICATION WHEN USING VR
Members are reminded that in the event a member is unable to report to work they are required to call in at least one half hour prior to the beginning of the shift even when using a VR day in order to avoid a Doc. 8 occurrence. The call-off number is 1-800-222-8889.

We want to welcome the Knight Sanitation workers to the UAW! Knight Sanitation workers voted 100% in favor of ratification of their tentative agreement between the UAW and KnightFM.
The UAW’s struggle to bring social and economic justice to all working people will never end. Our power is directly related to our membership. Please help me in welcoming our new brothers and sisters from Knight, we need all the help we can get.
